For Destitute Women – A Home in Transition |

Hearts Healing Hunger will give immediate shelter to destitute women in crisis and need. It will be a home in transition. The shelter will provide food, clothes, medical care, education, life and leadership skills, and hope. In addition the following will be provided: |

Economic skills: training to earn their own livelihood. Skills offered will include tailoring, cooking, computer skills, dairy farming, English and local language studies, homeopathy and ayurveda, sustainable agriculture and water conservation. |
|
Health and hygiene: training in sex and reproductive care, nutrition, general health, to include distribution of sanitary napkins and hygiene kits. |
|
Counselling facilities for post-rehabilitation. Continuing guidance and facilities to transit from post-trauma to rehabilitation and to their own home. |
|
'Legal counsel' Education regarding available resources they are entitled to: their fundamental right to shelter and home. |

This transition home will have the mandate to find new and permanent homes for every elderly woman who comes under its care. Specifically we will work in the community to find existing homes for the elderly as well as nursing homes if required, where our precious senior women can live in an environment of love and security. Our eventual mandate is to ourselves develop homes for the elderly. Orphans brought to our center will also be affectionately cared for until permanent homes can be found. |

Leadership and consciousness-raising skills: Overall assurance that they are entitled to live without harassment and can utilize their capacity and resources to lead a harmonious life of dignity and respect in the society. |
